Chapter 5 Activity

Split the class into groups.  Have each group read the first Ten Amendments to the US Constitution.  Tell them they have the job of "modernizing" the Bill of Rights. 

Which of the Amendments would they keep?  Which would they reject?  Which new ones – if any -- would they adopt?  Their final list should be no more than Ten Amendments in length.

Have the groups present their lists to the entire class and explain their decisions.  Are they broadly similar?  Very different?
